KHAMAI REPTILE PARK

Khamai Reptile Park is a farm where you can spot a big variety of reptiles from african snakes to scaly lizards. The farm houses some of South Africa’s deadliest snakes and many reptiles with really scary names : Mozambique spitting cobra, puff adder, Nile crocodile, baboon spider, black and green mamba, boomslang, water lizards, and scorpions.

Knowing there is many occasion to spot animals in their natural habitate, it felt wierd at first to go to a farm (which is actually not so far from a little zoo). Nevertheless, during our travel in South Africa we realised it was much more difficult that what we tought to spot a crocodile or a Black Mamba in the nature. Therefor it wasn't a bad idea to discover the variety of south african reptile in this farm. We spend a bit more than an hour in the center, which is not so big, and we had a really good time. We even had the chance to hold a big piton of 8 kg, and that was something !

MOHOLOHOLO WILDLIFE REHABILITATION CENTRE

Moholoholo Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre is a sanctuary for a variety of african wildlife and endangered species. The centre provides a home to many abandoned, injured and poisoned wildlife. Animals that you may see are lion, leopard, cheetah, hyena, eagles, vultures and various baby animals.

The tour's duration is around 2 hours and a half. It starts with a guide giving a power point introduction about the Center. Then you get a guided visit of the center with another 30 tourists. During the tour, you can see a variety of animals, from big cats to the most colorful birds. The tour can be really interesting and funny if you are with kids. The guide will let you feed the vultures and enter in the big cage of some extravagent african birds. We didn't like the fact that we had to follow a groupe because you can not really take your time to admire an animal. Indeed, because there is only one fence between you and the biggest predators , the guide can not let you visit the center as you wish.
