LION'S HEAD HIKING TRAIL

If there is one hike you shouldn't miss in Cape Town, it's the Lion's Head trail. The trail is famous because it offers a sublim 360° panorama on the city and a magnificent view on Table Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. The trail starts in Signal Hill Road, where you can park your car on the side on the road. This trail is one of the most popular in Cape Town. Many people are looking for a place to park so we recommend to arrive at early morning. Moreover, the best point to start your trail early is without a doubt the beautiful view on the colorfull sunrise. The hike follows a spiral trail going around the mountain and starts with an unbelievable view on the Twelve Apostles (name given to the right flank of Table Mountain) and on the beaches of Camps Bay and Clifton. Further on, the trail offers a view on the Green Point and Sea Point neighborhoods on the Atlantic, as well as Signal Hill. This hike is quite a climb, but it's pretty easy and fit all level of fitness. There was many people doing this hike in the same time than us, mostly local hikers enjoying a steepy morning footing. It gives to the place a really nice hiking atmosphere, where everybody is giving each other motivation to complete the trail. Once you get to the top of Lion's Head, the 360-degree panoramic view is a real reward. The way back is on the same trail. It goes much faster because it's going down. Hiking this trail is for free, you don't need to pay any entry fee.
