OUR EXPERIENCE IN BLYDE RIVER CANYON
We drove from Johannesburg to Blyde River Canyon Resort, it is about 400km but it took us more than 6 hours to get to destination because of the numerous potholes. Yes, it is something you need to know, the roads in this area are full of potholes !
We spent 3 days and 2 nights in Blyde River Canyon but we actually felf like it wasn't enough. We could easily stay longer to enjoy every parts of these amazing landscapes and experience some sport activities.
We slept in Swadini A Forever Resort, a camping-resort located on the banks of the Blyde River.
We payed 550 ZAR (34€) for 2 nights / 2 adults / 1 tent. There is also chalets but the price is much more expensive. The camping is amazing and have all the facilities you need (swimming pool, supermarket, tourism activities, restaurant...). There is no Internet inside the camping but you can find wifi spots at the restaurant and at the office desk. There is a barbecue for each plot of the camping, a “must have” in South Africa, and you can even take a bath in the common bathroom ! In the heart of a colorfull spectacular landscapes, and with many animal all around the resort, you really feel immersed in the african nature. You can easily pass a baunch of baboons while walking in the camping, meet a dear on your way to the restaurant, or experience a velvet monkey falling on your tent in the middle of the night !

What is the difference between Swadini Resort and Forever Resort ?
Forever Resort is in a really strategic location because it is on the Panorama road. The resort is close to a main road and it is probably easier to access. From the resort, it will take you only few minutes with the car to get to the famous Three Rondavels view point. We didn't spend the night in the resort so we don't know about the facilities. Nevertheless we guess the two resorts are prety similar.
Swadini Resort is located more north and it is really close to the Blyde Dam and the bridge entrance of the reserve. There is many rehabilitation centers and game safaris around. The resort is quite, you really feel lost in the canyon and in a full immersion in the nature.
