Blyde River Canyon Nature Reseve offers many trails, more or less short, in different kind of landscapes. These trails are for free but you need to pay a fee of 25 ZAR per person (1€50) to enter the reserve. We did only the « Waterfall Trail » (2,3km), which begins in front of the Nature Conservation's office near the bridge of the reserve. This trail goes through a forest to get to a waterfall (and back). With baboons crossing our path, we admired the variety of trees (Matumi, Mitzeri, Sycomorus fig and Forest Fever Trees) and enjoyed the quite of this beautiful place.

Waterfall Trail : 2,3km (1h) - Starts and ends at the Nature Conservation's office neat the bridge of the entrance

Peninsula Trail : 2,3km (1h) – Starts and ends at the Nature Conservation Visitor's Centre at the Blyde Dam

SHORT HIKING TRAILS IN SWADINI RESORT

There is 3 short trails starting and ending at Swadini A Forever Resort. These trails are free if you stay in the camping or in a chalet in the resort. If not, you need to pay an entrance fee - around 70 ZAR per person (5€). The office desk of the camping will give you a map with the marked trails.

We did only one of these trails, the « Kudu trail » (1,4km), and it was nice but didn't blow our mind. The trail we did was going along the banks of the river inside a forest. We were hoping to see some wildlife but unfortunatly it didn't happen. Nevertheless the trail was full of termite nests with a really impressive size, and that was worthing the shot !

Vervet Trail : 1km

Kudu Trail : 1.4km

Bushpig Trail : 2,2km
